The Muscle Therapy
& Acupuncture Center offers Foot Reflexology
as one of its most appealing services.
So many of us have tired, sore feet, heel spurs,
plantarfascitis, and other painful conditions.
Imagine a 50 minute treatment, targeting the
feet, by a certified reflexologist. Your
feet are worked in a specific manner to release
the knots and relieve pain and stress.
When your done you feel as if your walking on
clouds! This makes an excellent gift for the
person who may have never had any type of massage
before.
What is Foot Reflexology?
Reflexology is more than a foot massage.
It is a science that deals with the principle
that there are reflex areas in the feet which
correspond to all of the glands, organs and
parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes
properly can help many health problems in a
natural way, as a type of preventative
maintenance.
Is Reflexology new?
The
idea behind reflexology is not new - in fact,
its ancient! It was practiced as early
as 2330 B.C. by the Egyptian culture as seen
in hieroglyphics. Reflexology as we know
it today was first researched and developed
by Eunice Ingham, the pioneer in this field.
Her book on the subject was published in 1938.
And since 1942, Reflexology training has been
available.
What is the Ingham Method of Reflexology?
It is the combined work of the late Eunice Ingham
and her nephew Dwight C. Byers, the worlds
leading authority on Foot and Hand Reflexology.
Foot Reflexologists at the Muscle Therapy Center
are trained and certified in the Ingham Method.
What does Reflexology do?
The Ingham Method of Reflexology is used primarily
for relaxing tension. Doctors agree that
over 75% of our health problems can be linked
to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology
improves nerve and blood supply, and helps the
body balance itself.
What is a treatment like?
A foot reflexology session begins with a relaxing
foot soak. Your therapist will briefly
go over your health history and answer any questions
you may have. The treatment lasts approximately 25 minutes on each foot (50 min. total). Specific techniques are used to stimulate the
various reflexes and reduce muscular tension
and pain. Be sure to let the therapist
know if you have tender areas during the treatment.
Occasionally scent-free powder is used to reduce
friction, and the treatment ends with a scent-free
moisturizer applied to the foot. We are
careful working with those who may have allergies.
If necessary, the treatment can be done
without any product application at all.
When finished, you are left feeling refreshed
and invigorated!
